Dominican citizens will soon need to apply for ETIAS to travel to Europe without a visa. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System, ETIAS, will start in 2026 . The visa waiver system will help improve Schengen border management and increase safety for locals and visitors.

DO DOMINICANS NEED A VISA FOR EUROPE?

Dominicans do not need a visa to visit Europe for up to 90 days for purposes such as tourism and business.

Starting 2026 , Dominicans will can apply for a travel authorisation to enter the Schengen Area visa-free. ETIAS is a visa waiver, not a visa. Dominicans can continue to travel without a visa for short stays provided they register for the new travel authorisation online.

ETIAS REQUIREMENTS FOR CITIZENS OF DOMINCA

Dominican citizens need the following items to get started with the ETIAS application:

  • A valid Dominican passport
  • A credit or debit card
  • A current email address

These are the main ETIAS requirements. A debit or credit card is needed to pay the ETIAS application fee, and an email address must be provided to receive ETIAS status updates.

Dominicans must apply for ETIAS and travel to Europe with the same passport. The approved ETIAS is linked to the passport used to apply and cannot be transferred to a different travel document.
