ETIAS for Israelis

European travel authorisation for Israeli Citizens

This website does not belong to, nor is it affiliated with, the EU. The official website of the European Union is europa.eu.

Citizens of Israel will soon need to apply for ETIAS to travel to the European Schengen Area. ETIAS is a new travel authorisation for visa-exempt non-EU nationals. Similar to the United States ESTA and other visa waiver systems around the world, ETIAS will facilitate safer visa-free travel.

ETIAS will improve external border control and make European destinations even safer for Israelis and visitors from across the world. The European Parliament and European Commission will implement the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) to screen visa-exempt travellers, including Israelis, before they visit the EU.

The new travel authorisation will be fully implemented by 2026 . ETIAS will be an entry requirement for Israeli nationals travelling to the Schengen Area on holiday or business, for up to 90 days.

Israeli nationals can travel to the Schengen Area for up to 90 days per 180-day period visa-free with ETIAS. Israelis who do not meet the ETIAS requirements, or wish to stay for longer than 90 days need to apply for a visa such as a work visa, a student visa, or a resident visa.

HOW CAN ISRAELIS APPLY FOR AN ETIAS?

Israelis passport holders will be able to apply for ETIAS to visit Europe from 2026 . The ETIAS application for Israelis is 100% online, applicants will be able to fill out the electronic application from a smartphone, laptop, or other electronic device.

VISITING EUROPE WITH AN ETIAS FROM ISRAEL

ETIAS is not a visa, but it will be a mandatory entry requirement for Israelis visiting the Schengen Area visa-free. ETIAS will be operational from 2026 .

Without the European visa waiver for Israelis, travellers may be denied boarding a flight or other form of transport. Carriers will be held responsible for transporting travellers who do not hold a valid EU visa waiver.
