In 2020, the EU will implement the new travel authorization program called the ETIAS visa. All citizens traveling to Europe from the United Arab Emirates will need to apply for and obtain a European visa before they travel.
What do Emirati citizens need in order to visit Europe?
The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (known as ETIAS), is a visa waiver program being developed for all ETIAS eligible countries including the United Arab Emirates.
From 2020, when the Europe visa for Emirati citizens is launched, all travelers to Europe from the United Arab Emirates will need to obtain ETIAS travel authorization through an online application system which is quick and simple to complete.
ETIAS requirements for Emirati citizens:
Emirati citizens need to provide the following when applying for ETIAS visa.
- Details of their Emirati passport (which needs to be valid for at least three months).
- Their personal information (including an email address which is needed to receive the Europe Visa for United Arab Emirates citizens).
- A credit or debit card to pay the ETIAS fee.
ETIAS visa application for Emiratis
An ETIAS visa for Europe will be necessary for Emirati citizens traveling to Europe. It is easily obtainable online through the ETIAS application form.
Each eligible citizen traveling to Europe from the United Arab Emirates will need to complete a short application form with their contact details and answer some security questions regarding their travel history and their health. The information provided in the ETIAS application for Emiratis will be screened against various security databases. The approved ETIAS visa waiver will be sent after approval to the applicant’s email address.
All applicants are urged to double check the information they provide on the application. It is important that there are no spelling or typing mistakes in their passport details, passport details or email address.
Traveling to Europe from the United Arab Emirates
Travelers with the European visa for Emirati citizens can enter any of the European countries included in the ETIAS agreement for a maximum of 90 days. This means Emirati citizens with ETIAS can travel to any of the Schengen zone countries without the need to apply for a visa.
The ETIAS visa for Europe is valid for five years and permits multiple entries into the Schengen zone. This means that any Emirati citizen with a valid European visa can visit Europe any number of times in this five year period, as long as they don’t stay for longer than 90 days in the same 180-day period (and they have a valid passport).
When either the citizen’s Emirati passport expires or the ETIAS visa does, it will be necessary for the traveler to apply for an ETIAS renewal before returning to the Schengen zone.
