All Uruguayan citizens traveling to Schengen countries will need an ETIAS visa waiver. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will come into effect in 2021. The measure is an effort to protect the Schengen region from terrorist attacks and improve safety for locals and foreigners alike. All citizens of Uruguay will have to apply for an ETIAS when traveling to Europe.
TRAVELING TO EUROPE FROM URUGUAY
In order to get an ETIAS visa waiver, Uruguayan citizens should posses a valid passport, credit or debit card and a current email address. These are the basic requirements to qualify for an ETIAS visa waiver. Failure to provide any of these documents will result in the application being denied.
The applicant’s passport should be valid for a minimum of 3 months from the day of arrival to the EU. Currently, An Europe visa for Uruguayan citizens is not necessary for stays up to 90 days. However, as of 2021 Uruguayan citizens traveling to Europe are required to have an ETIAS visa waiver, which is valid for 3 consecutive years.
A valid ETIAS Europe visa waiver for Uruguay citizens will allow travellers to enter any of the European countries that are in the Schengen Zone and the process aims to improve travel safety and ensure a high level of security.
The ETIAS application has a fee that must be paid in advance using a secure payment system. A valid credit or debit card is needed. The ETIAS visa waiver is sent via email to the successful applicant.
ETIAS REQUIREMENTS FOR URUGUAYAN CITIZENS
Uruguayans can apply online for an ETIAS by completing an online ETIAS registration. The process is simple and easy to follow. The applicant will have to fill out a form and respond to a series of security questions.
For security reasons there is a screening process used by the European immigration officials which screens applicants before they travel to the Schengen zone.
The applicant will receive the approved ETIAS visa waiver once the fee has been paid and the enrollment process is complete.
HOW TO APPLY FOR AN ETIAS FROM URUGUAY
Uruguayans traveling to Europe for short-term stays are not required to apply for a Schengen visa. However, from 2021, a valid ETIAS visa waiver will be necessary.
It should be noted that there are restrictions in place. Some of these include carrying firearms, importing or exporting tobacco, or bringing in large amounts of money.
Uruguayan citizens under 18 years of age are not required to obtain an ETIAS visa waiver and therefore are exempt from paying the fee. All minors are expected to travel with a valid passport.
