ETIAS Visa for Ukrainians

Europe Visa for Ukrainian Citizens

Although Ukraine is not part of the European Union, the country has recently signed an Association Agreement with the EU. Additionally, Ukrainian citizens were granted visa-free travel to the Schengen Area in 2017, for travel of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

However, although Ukrainians do not currently need a visa for visits under 90 days to Schengen Area countries, this will soon change. In 2021, a new travel authorization program, ETIAS, will come into effect in order to help control the growing problems of terrorism and immigration in Europe.

From 2021 onwards, all visa exempt third-country nationals (including Ukraine passport holders) traveling to any of the 26 countries in the ETIAS program will require the European visa waiver.

ETIAS Visa Requirements for Ukrainian Citizens

Ukrainian citizens traveling to Europe after 2021 will need to apply for the Europe Travel visa ETIAS in order to enter the Schengen Area.

This new travel and information authorization system will check the applicant’s information against established security databases such as Europol and Interpol, in order to improve the security of Europe’s external borders.

The European visa waiver for Ukraine will be similar to other travel authorization systems, such as the ESTA in the United States. Travelers will be able to obtain an ETIAS with an easy online application.

However, before applying, it’s important to check the ETIAS visa requirements for Ukraine.

Applicants for the Ukraine Europe visa will require a valid biometric passport with at least 3 months validity from the date of arrival in an ETIAS country. They will also need a valid credit or debit card to pay the for the visa waiver application fee.

A current address, phone number, and a working email address must also be provided. It’s essential to double-check the spelling of the email, as this is where the Europe travel visa for Ukraine will be sent upon completing the application process.

Travel to Europe from Ukraine

Upon receiving the Europe travel visa for Ukraine, the applicant will have permission to enter any of the European countries included in the ETIAS agreement, without having to apply for a visa, for a maximum of 90 days within a period of 180 days.

Business and leisure trips are both covered, but the Ukraine ETIAS does not include permission to work in the EU and a separate permit must be obtained.

The Ukraine visa waiver is valid for a total of 3 consecutive years and is a multiple entry visa. As long as they don’t exceed 90 days during each stay, Ukraine ETIAS holders can visit multiple European countries while the visa is valid. However, if either the Ukraine visa waiver or the traveler’s passport expires, the applicant must obtain a new ETIAS visa before re-entering Europe.
